Qba prosze cie bardzo.
NR: Now since you have delayed the release, is there a chance that BFTV will be ready to ship with Battlefield 2?
DICE: No, BFTV will not ship with the game. Even if we really want to we need to get the main product finished first. The most important thing is to deliver a good game and then see what might raise the experience further.
NR: Will you be able to choose to carry the weapon on the right or left side?
DICE: This is something we have chosen not to include in Battlefield 2. However if it appears in the future that this is a feature that people want, it might find it's way into the series but not in Battlefield 2.
NR: Is there anything you can do to raise your rank faster with other stuff? For example should I play as a Medic and help others, or kill as many as I can to get up faster in rank?
DICE: Our goal is to balance this so you will never be put in this situation, but to do what you are the most skilled at, and by that increase your rank faster. The more kits and vehicles you become skilled at, the chance of advancing faster gets bigger.
NR: There has been a rumour about EA delaying the release because they thought that the American side wasn't good enough compared to the other sides, and therefore making the American side stronger. Is this true?
DICE: He, he. No it this is not true. As a Lead Designer, it's my work to point out lacks like this, but this isn't the case now. We feel like we have made a good balance where all sides are balanced and nice, both the weapons and vehicles.
NR: Another rumour which is going around, is about the Multiplayer Demo being released at the end of February. Is this something we can look forward too, or should we give up our hopes? =)
DICE: Unfortunately you must stop hoping to see a demo in February and I cannot tell if there will be a demo at all or when. But as soon there will be news about this, you will notice it on the Official BF2 website.
NR: Will there be particular "armour maps", infantry maps" etc. or is every map going to be mixed with a little of everything?
DICE: We are currently sitting in a situation where we're balancing the maps and trying to give each of them a unique stamp, exactly like you said, some of them will have more focus on infantry, air or armour for example. The nice thing with the new scaleable maps is that for example, one of them with urban an settlement on a part of the map will be played completely different depending on which mode you are playing. If you choose the 64-player mode most of the vehicles are going to be included and if you play the 16-player mode you will get much more of the infantry battles around in an urban environment. So it's all about your taste!
NR: Are all servers going to have the "ranking system" or will it only be only your official ones? And is there a kind of player minimum-limit so 2 people won't create a server and "cheat-boost" their rank?
DICE: It's only on our official servers where the "ranking system" will be active and this is to prevent cheats like those you mentioned.
NR: Many people have been wondering after they saw a BF2 movie where a soldier gets shot by hostile infantry, and then his body flies high into the air. Will it be like this, or is it going to be fixed?
DICE: What you all saw was just a simple bug which will be fixed in the final game. It's our physics system allowing "rag doll" which is not yet balanced and this makes the soldiers lighter or heavier sometimes from the reality, which may look pretty bad (or funny).
NR: We have heard that the maps become smaller when very few people are in the server. Will it change on 64-32-16-8 etc. or does the map shrink as fast as one player disconnects?
DICE: The adjustments of the maps will not change during a game. The system works like this. You set up a server for 64 players, the map will adjust itself to this limit, you will have more tickets and vehicles compared to if you choose a 16-player version. Every map will able to start in 16, 32 and 64-player mode and as I mentioned above, the game experience differs quite a bit depending on which mode you are playing.
NR: Is there anything that you want to add which may be good to know for all the BF2 fans?
DICE: I could add that the whole team follows the community’s requests on the Internet and we listen very well about what is being discussed. We really appreciate your interest and we will do our best to deliver a game that everyone will enjoy.
The weekday’s here at the office is for the moment very hectic and one game test solves the other one where we are trying to get answers about everything from system requirements to balance issues. The funny part is that our test becomes more and more advanced and people have harder to step up from their chair after they have fought with their squads in intense battles. The new system with Medics which can give health and revive, support soldiers giving ammunition and engineers repairing has really increased the teamwork within the game.
We have really worked hard the last weeks on the “feeling” in infantry battles and succeeded to ring-in some nuts to crack. In short, it's beginning to become a game and we think and hope that you will like it as much as we do. Now I have to quit since we have a 64-player test going on. Today with me and my squad, with help from our commander and the other members, make sure to capture the city “Karkand” which will not be an easy task.
Over and out...
NR: Thank you very much for scattering the salt in the wounds!!!!
And finally, we'd like to thank Lars Gustavsson for all the nice answers, and Jenny Huldschiner which gave us this opportunity.
