Let me give the PR community a bit of insight on what is currently going on with PR.
We all know that DICE is trying to release a 1.5 patch for BF2. So what we have been doing is making a PR v0.87 hotfix which includes support for BF2 1.5, small fixes and the commander UAV.
At the moment, PR v0.87 is looking pretty much done, but we don't know what 1.5 final will bring that requires further tweaking/fixing. The patch will be quite small, hopefully less than 20mb if nothing further needs changing when BF2 1.5 final releases. However, the problem has always been "when".
We were on hold waiting for the release, but since it didn't come by the end of July, we decided to branch it out and start development work on PR v0.9. The initial plan for v0.9 has been polished, tasks have been allocated, and devs have already started commiting thousands of changes to the repository. It's definitely shaping up to be one of the biggest releases yet, with lots of new maps, vehicles, weapons, tweaks, fixes, and hopefully the IDF and Canadian factions. If all goes to plan, we're aiming at releasing at the end of the year.
After PR v0.9 release we have the plan to move into smaller release cycles. I think we will all appreciate faster updates from PR to keep things fresh.
So that's just a small insight on what is going on in the PR DEV world at the moment
